For this meeting we met in the Education library, and those present were Emily, Alice, Lucy, Sufia and Daniel.
We all came to this meeting having closely analysed both speeches in relation to the features we were assigned to study. This enabled us to start creating our survey questions using the website Survey Monkey, and to define what we are hoping to find out by distributing them and collecting data.
So far we've devised 5 questions and over the course of the next few days before our next meeting, we intend to think of a few more that we could possibly add. We decided on including no more than 10 questions due to the fact that we've included speech extracts in the questions which would make the survey quite time consuming to complete.
Agenda for the next meeting
We've agreed on meeting twice this week in order to really progress with our project. We've decided to meet on Thursday at 3 (location yet to be decided) and our intentions for this meeting are:
-to discuss ideas for any additional questions
-to decide on how we will distribute our survey
-to start constructing our presentation
I got your email and link to the survey. I can't respond right now as I'm off to a meeting, but there are some things that need sorting out. You need to revise the guidance on informing respondents who you are, what you are doing, why you want their help and how it will be used. You may also want to consider gathering some very basic data about them, in case you think different kinds of respondents (e.g. older vs younger) may respond differently. If you look at the info on Canvas from the Turkish PhD student, you'll see how she's introduced her request for people to complete her survey.
